Learn the ancient art of marbling on paper in this intensive workshop. Participants will explore patterns and designs by marbling on a variety of papers, and they also will explore color combinations and marbling techniques through traditional (Ebru) and non-traditional approaches. Marbling consists of suspending inks on a thickened water (carrageenan) bed. These inks are raked through a series of swirls, zig-zags, and other gestures to transform a given design. Students can expect to make at least 20-40 sheets of marbled paper.
