Join local book artist Jennifer of JC Marbling for a hands-on introduction to Coptic stitch book binding, a durable and beautiful binding style that dates back to the fourth century. Jennifer is a professional master marbler with Morgan Paper Conservatory, a member of Art Books Cleveland, and a skilled local bookmaker.
In this one-day workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of Coptic stitch binding from cover to cover. This exposed-sewing technique creates a lay-flat book structure, with the stitching becoming a decorative feature along the spine. Using a multiple-needle approach, students will create one handmade book while learning the structure, rhythm, and techniques that form the foundation for more advanced bookbinding styles.
Perfect for beginners and curious creatives alike—no prior experience necessary.
